Development of Electrospun Nanofibrous Filters for Controlling Coronavirus Aerosols

چکیده
Airborne transmission of SARS-CoV-2 plays a critical role in spreading COVID-19. To protect public health, we designed and fabricated electrospun nanofibrous air filters that hold promise for applications personal protective equipment (PPE) the indoor environment. Due to ultrafine nanofibers (?300 nm), had much smaller pore size comparison surgical mask cloth masks (a couple micrometers versus tens hundreds micrometers). A coronavirus strain served as surrogate was used generate aerosols filtration efficiency tests, which can better represent other agents aerosol generation previous studies. The showed excellent performance by capturing up 99.9% aerosols, outperformed many commercial face masks. In addition, observed same filter or removed NaCl equivalently less effectively when both were generated from system. Our work paves new avenue advancing developing controlling airborne transmission.

The use of biomaterials processed by the electrospinning technique has gained considerable interest for neural tissue engineering applications. The tissue engineering strategy is to facilitate the regrowth of nerves by combining an appropriate cell type with the electrospun scaffold. Electrospinning can generate fibrous meshes having fiber diameter dimensions at the nanoscale and these fibers c...

The objective of this work was to study the feasibility of preparing cellulose acetate (CA) nanofibrous membranes by electrospinning with single solvent and their potential applying as affinity membrane. CA solutions in dichloromethane (DCM), formic acid, acetic acid and trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) were electrospun into nonwoven fiber membranes, respectively. The scanning electron microscope (SE...

Nanofibrous membranes of matrimide were successfully fabricated using electrospinning technique under optimized conditions. Nanofibrous membranes were found to be highly hydrophobic with high water contact angle of 130°. FESEM and pore size distribution analysis revealed the big pore size structure of electrospun membranes even greater than 2μm and the pore size distribution is found to be narr...
